Jim Goldberg, Spring/Summer 2022

For the launch of the Spring Summer 2022 global campaign, BOYY has continued its collaboration with fine art photographer Jim Goldberg on a portrait series that documents an assembly of Los Angeles based emerging and established creative voices.

The artist’s engaging and striking documentary approach results in a series of alluring portraits and still life images, captured in the intimacy of a Laurel Canyon home built in the 1940s, presenting indoor and outdoor private spaces filled with emotional human energy.

The campaign features Korean American musician Deb Never; teenage friends Secret and Ella; Los Angeles-based multidisciplinary artists Steven Traylor and Maxo, author and Booker Prize nominee Ottessa Moshfegh; farmer and entrepreneur Courtney Cool, as well as model, musician, and composer Alè Bersanetti, and couple Swap and Andrea with their son Jru.

With the launch of this campaign, BOYY also continues its philanthropic work with New York’s Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual & Transgender Community Center (The Center) and The Rainbow Sky Association of Thailand.

Jim Goldberg (b. 1953) is an American photographer and writer. The artist’s work broadens the notions of documentary photography, illustrating neglected subcultures through image, collage, and handwritten personal text from conversations with his subjects. Highlighting populations on the fringes of mainstream society, Goldberg’s multidisciplinary and collaborative works examine myths of class, power, and happiness. His work appears in several private and public collections across the U.S., including the Museum of Modern Art in New York, the San Francisco Museum of Modern Art, the Whitney Museum, the Getty, and the Los Angeles County Museum of Art. He is the recipient of several awards including three National Endowment for the Arts Fellowships, a Guggenheim Fellowship (1985), the Henri Cartier-Bresson Award (2007), and the Deutsche Börse Photography Prize (2011). The artist is represented by Magnum Photos, and his editorial work has appeared in W, Details, Flaunt, The New York Times Magazine, Esquire, Rebel, GQ, The New Yorker, and Dazed & Confused.
